I went to the gyno for the first time at 15 even though I was still a viirgn. If you are getting put on birth control to help with your periods? Women and teens are often placed on birth control pills to help with irregular periods. If you get put on birth control, they will give you a pap test. A pap test (or pap smear, but I don’t like that word) is a quick little thing they do to check for cancer, infections and diseases. It is mandatory if you want to get put on birth control pills. What they do is ask you to change into a medical robe and lay on a bed. You will place your feet in these stirrups that keep your legs open. They will do a breast exam and then the test. What they do in the test is put this thing in you so they could look at everything. Then they grab a tiny little brush and get a swab from your vagina to send to the lab. It really doesn’t hurt but the experience will be awkward. You will feel slight discomfort and mild cramping in the stomach. It’s a procedure that lasts 30 seconds and it doesn’t hurt but it is awkward and embarrassing. The first time I did it, I was so scared. Nobody has ever seen me naked before. But just remember, gynecologists do this every day. Just shower before you go in out of courtesy. lol. But don’t worry, this isn’t awkward for them and they will try and be extra gentle. Did you just recently get your period for the first time? When I first got mine, it was overly heavy and I had severe cramps that made me pass out at times. But after the first few months they mellowed out. Now I normally have light periods and I’m not on the pill. But still, you should see a gyno.
