David Shepherd was one of the best umpires in the cricket world. He stood in 92 Test matches and officiated in three World Cup finals.

Shepherd was born in Bideford, Devon England and latterly lived in the nearby seaside village of Instow. He married his long time partner, Jenny, in 2008.

David Shepherd suffering from cancer for a long time, He died on 27 October 2009.

He was part of the ICC’s first panel of neutral umpires when this policy was adopted for international cricket in the 1990s.

Shepherd stood in 92 Tests and 172 ODIs, including three consecutive World Cup finals.
