The University Grants Commission of India is a Union government body that provides funds for government-recognised universities and colleges.

UGC conducts NET for the appointments of teachers in colleges and universities. NET qualification has been exempted to those having M.Phil for teaching at Graduation level and to those having Ph.D for teaching at Post Graduation level.

It is the body that provides recognition for universities in India. Its central office is in New Delhi, and it also has a southern regional office in Hyderabad.

UGC NET 2009-2010

National Eligibility Test is the national level entrance examination for postgraduate candidates who wish to qualify for university level teaching jobs in India. It is administered by the University Grants Commission.

NET Eligibility

NET Examination confers eligibility for lectureship upon Indian nationals. The NET qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer in all Indian universities/Institutes/colleges. It was resolved in the UGC’s Commission
