Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is the result of a unique partnership between the Government of Sikkim and Manipal Education. Established in 1995, it is the first government-private initiative in the region.
The university provides courses in distant education mode through Sikkim Manipal University Distance Education (SMUDE).
All the degrees provided in distance mode are approved by Distance Education Council (DEC).
